The Beatles Yellow Submarine Model CelsLed by visionary designer Heinz Edelmann and director George Dunning, the duo made one of the greatest contributions to the animation art history with their creation of The Beatles "Yellow Submarine". With a team of mostly young, unsung artists toiling away in rinky-dink offices in Soho Square, London, they used media no one had ever thought of using in animation: "live action" shots.
The effect was profound: The memorable sequence where the submarine first departs from the Pier and appears to travel rapidly through all sorts of live-action settings (including a park where a statue of a mounted cavalry soldier appears to tip his hat to the viewer) was all done using a series of postcard photographs.
The Beatles's Paul, Ringo, George and John are all featured in these four Color Model Cels of different possible outfits for the hit film. In purchasing this extremely rare set, you get a chance to own not only own a piece from one of the most historic music bands of all time, but also a vital moment in animation history!
